Mark, you title for this post is totally inaccurate. This is not one small step. If you all have done nothing else, you have shown the rest of us how to select a bishop. Pray that this becomes the norm in the OCA and, perhaps, in the Orthodox world. I am in the DOS and I think this is a great example for us.

Now, let's get beyond this only celibate and monastic non-sense and get back to the Tradition of the Orthodox Church where marriage is not an impediment for episcopal election. This would allow smaller dioceses and more bishops. It's really ridiculous to think one bishop can be responsible for the entire Midwest or West Coast of America!
