The quote below is the greatest unanswered question. I've repeated it time and time again. Until the OCA adopts such an entity, it will continue to be reactive to outsiders, rather than insiders.
"Create an autonomous entity charged with responding with sensitivity to allegations of abuse of moral or ethical standards, secular law or canons of the church, so that no such charge goes uninvestigated;"
Pain, pain and more pain
In a quick sweep of internet checking, I thought for a moment such a letter recognizing the terrible effects of clergy sexual abuse had been penned by Met Jonah of the OCA.
Instead it was an April's Foold type of joke of something that would be well to happen as Mr. Patico's reflection writing suggets, but instead it is another wishful thinking of a tatered banner waving in the wind.
I can only comment to other weary sojourners in which the programmed responses of Lent and Holy Week are upon us, I understand your pain.
It is pure and it is painful.
Painful that in these retiring bishop's moments there is no lifting of the shroud of death and darkness.
They plot together, You want to be in our group?, "Keep our secrets."
These men are not Christ, no are they Christlike.
Beware lest you fall into the hands of some 'alternative devil' who has beguilded you while the evil forces move on.
When we have participating in honoring and holding men up as "fathers" who have violated the trust they were given.. a lot more needs to change.
The pay and pray and light candles instead of help victims goes on and on.
How many candles will be burned in the next month when people need help who have been victimized?
What a difference if victims could burn their mortgages, and homeless wander victims fimd shelter. Instead, the cults continue to hid within the ranks those who they called "father". The men were cheaters of the honor bestowed, and openly and for too long sucked away the innocence of the young doves they captured.
“Turn not away Thy servant, Hear my speedily …attend to my cry …”
God hears. The temple dwellers stay deaf and prefer the soiled robes than to clean house and make new beginnings.
Very well presented Carol. What has happened to Bishop Nikolai of Alaska? lat I hear he was in Australia...seems to me he got off lightly..
(Editor's note: The former Bishop was in New York last week attempting to meet with the Lesser Synod. He was denied a meeting with the Synod because he refused to withdraw his lawsuit. He was given more time to reconsider his position. )
