May his memory be eternal. God bless his family during this time. It is a true loss.
Mark, on a side note, if i'm not mistaken the late Archbishop was the primary supporter of OCA news and protected this site from harm. Mark, is this correct, it is something i heard through the grape vine. If it is, I wonder what will happen next with this site.
(Editor's note: The Archbishop simply practiced what he preached, that "We are free men in the Midwest". That has not changed with his passing, veiled threats notwithstanding. )

Those who care about the Orthodox Christian mission here in America are challenged by the passing of Archbishop Job. He has been a stalwart for the Truth and Way that leads to Life. Unless others rise up to take his place, Orthodox Christianity here and abroad we be left wither as the Churches of Laodeciea and Sardis.

A clarification of my last sentence is in order. What I wanted to convey is that unless we seek out leaders such as Archbishop Job, the Church in America and around the world will find itself in the condition of Sardis and Laodecia, instead of Philadelphia (Revelation 3:1-22) when our Lord returns.
Archbishop Job will be greatly missed by those who value the truth. May the memory of Archbishop Job be eternal.

From everything I've heard about +Archbishop JOB, he was a holy man and a wonderful shepherd. May his Memory be Eternal. My thoughts and prayers are with the Diocese of Chicago and the Midwest and with the OCA, because we need more bishops like him.

It is very sad to have our Father in Christ taken from us, so suddenly. He was not perfect and he would be the first to refreshingly remind you of that. +Job was a true pastor to his flock and spiritual father. We hope and pray that he will be granted the Kingdom of God and that his memory will be eternal !! Axios, Axios, Axios !

Archbishop +Job was the one bishop of the OCA I ever had the occasion to meet in person.
My family celebrated Pascha at Holy Trinity Cathedral in the Spring of 2007 due to the odd circumstance of my wife having a professional conference in Chicago that weekend.
Others will remember him for his upright and forthright role in the OCA's late troubles. I will always remember him for the joy that seemed to radiate from him as he celebrated the Paschal Liturgy.

What does it mean when an Archbishop of the Church dies behind the wheel of his car, presumably alone, and obviously ill? Why was there no one there to assist him? Why was he not given medical treatment earlier?
Archbishop Job was, for me, the one (and I do mean the ONLY one) shining light of truth in the Synod of Bishops. He dared ask the only necessary question in the midst of the scandal, and for it he was publicly humiliated and scorned. Now that this one light has gone out, so, too, has my hope for any meaningful reform of the OCA. It will be "business as usual."
"Give rest and blessed repose O Lord to the soul of your most faithful servant Job, who suffered not only like his namesake, but like you yourself. His memory will be eternal for those who loved him, but as frail humans, often failed to tell him."
(Editor's note: The Archbishop was alone because he disliked flying, and chose to drive most places; and once again, choose to do so alone. Medical attention was offered on multiple ocassions and refused, because the Archbishop disliked going to the doctor.)

May his memory be eternal. A big thank you to Bishop Joseph of Los Angeles for the Memorial Service he served and posted on the website of his diocese (www.antiochianladiocese.org). He is truly a leader in the efforts to unite America as he always recognizes the hierarchs of the various jurisdictions.

Okay, thanks. I just heard that and wasn't for sure so I wanted to see if it was accurate.
However, remember. It is true we are free in not just the Midwest but all America, but we must be united across all America..not just one region apart from the rest.

Dear Friends: Last Friday afternoon I was returning from visiting my mom and was checking in with wife. She told me to pull over to the side of the road for some shocking news. Just 4-1/2 years ago +Job consecrated our new temple, and last year he presented Anna with her late vocations graduation certificate. He was to be with us late this year for our church's 40th anniversary. But I will most remember him for his words when the powers that be tried get him to silence this website: "We are free men here in the Midwest!" Yes we are, and now you are free dearest Vladiko, free from the burdens you carried the past years, free from the suffering at the hands of those who wanted you silenced, and worse. Now, Vladiko, it is our responsilbility to carry the torch, we free men and women of the Midwest. Please pray to Christ our God for the salvation of His Holy American Orthodox Church, and for the salvation of our souls.

The death of this very righteous Archbishop has reached us all the way here in Harbin, China, 10,000 nautical kilometers from Chicago, and we are truly, truly aggrieved.
He was the St. the John Baptist of a truly corrupt and evil ridden Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church of America. Even here in China, in our newspapers, we were entertained with the malfeasance of the Orthodox Church of America, as an example of "corrupt Christian spirit". Nonetheless, we could also read about this very good Archbishop and the humiliations that he suffered.
Metropolitan Herman is gone; the Archbishops Dmitri and whatever-his-name-was from San Francisco are gone.... All of these evil, evil men hastened the death of this kind and beloved Archbishop.
We remember at our prayers on Sunday and we will remember him on the 40th day as well.
Truly we are afflicted.

William, only you would bring up this point. What are you saying? Now that Archbishop JOB is gone, this website will be gone also? It doesn't matter who was doing what, whether he was able to protect this website or not. What matters is the trouble is still brewing out there. MP started all of this mess, and continues it. He doesn't care who he steps on in the process - look what he did to Bishop MARK, who insisted that his Diocese be financially responsible and accountable. He may as well have shot him in the head - what credibility will he have now with those in his Diocese who refuse to listen to him and obey him?
The trouble is in Englewood, where it started, and until people accept that fact, this mess will only get worse. Englewood needs to be swept clean, then the inner circle throughout the Archdiocese needs to be swept clean. Maybe then we can start over and build our faith back to where it should be. Until this is completed, we're in for a long battle, and I hate to see our church, God's Holy Church, be the site of a battleground.

I don't think Bishop MARK should even consider a transfer to the OCA. Any or all of our Hierarchs could do the same thing, and then we would still be stuck with MP and his dishonesty. We need our current Bishops to stay, stand strong, and stand up to MP, making it clear, that regardless of his illegal actions, they intend to clean up their own Dioceses and make them healthy and legal and holy once more. Please - Diocesan Bishops - order the financial reviews in your Dioceses - don't let MP cut you down as he has before. It's obvious that he doesn't acknowledge any authority for any of you, and the July conference call was a sham and not intended to restore any of you to where you should be. He cannot be trusted. We need your strength to get thru this. Stand strong and united, and he will have no choice but to back off and listen to the words of holy men.
Yes, this is a sad death. The Archbishop was a self destructive individual in so many ways, and despite all the praise, some of us who were in NE when he was there remember another Job.

Did even ONE of the OCA hierarchs make reference to their need to beg forgiveness of Abp Job for the way they either crucified him or stood by and watched while the wretched Bp Nikolai did it for them??? God have mercy on THEIR souls, and grant rest to Abp Job. He will be missed.

My friend, please do not say for me to join the righteous faith when I am already here. That is ignorant at best for you to say.
To make it clear, this did not originate from MP as you state. If you look and assess closely, MP just put his foot down because the bishops where going off like loose canons with their power hunger thriving to become the next metropolitan. Bishops having people check their email, bishops ordaining individuals that didn't even go to seminary at all but yet have 4 foot beards is just as good, priests that control bishops i.e. in the Midwest we all know who pulls Bishop MARK's strings (Fried chicken sounds good)...
It is truly disgusting that no one on this website understands that MP was a leader and still is in trying to make a point that we must be unified and the accident of making Diocesan bishops was just that...an accident in my opinion. It made disunity rather than unity. I'm sorry my friend. I will not grow my beard like you and join some hypothetical side you speak of. I will just continue to pray and go to church like a normal christian layman and not a monk...else I might as well go to a monastery.
NOTE: I am not making fun of monasticism, i'm making fun of the individuals that are married and act like a monastic - kind of hypocritical and entertaining to watch in my opinion.
